Pinole Creek has put water downtown since 1862

Pinole Creek has flooded the downtown since 1862. SOS Restoration of East Bay clears the water out and rebuilds the floor. We speak both languages, and the visit is on us. A 1965 flood project helped, yet downtown still floods. Call (341) 220-0032.

Did the 1965 project fix Pinole Creek?

Pinole splits into the old creek downtown and everything uphill.

No — the downtown still takes water in a hard rain.

The Army Corps built flood control on the creek in 1965, but the historic core still floods. Which side of the creek you are on changes the drying plan. We check the waterline before the pumps start.

Who serves the city's water and sewer?

EBMUD for the tap; the Pinole–Hercules plant for the sewer.

The East Bay runs on five water agencies, and Pinole is EBMUD, not Contra Costa Water. Its sewage goes to the–Hercules plant. We call the right desk so no time is lost.

What does a pre-1980 Pinole house add?

A ten-day asbestos notice before any demolition.

70 percent of the city’s 7,056 homes predate 1980, so lead and asbestos are live questions. The air district wants a sample and ten business days’ notice before demolition. We test before we tear into a water job.

When is the right Pinole call no crew?

When a clean spill dried and the studs read dry.

A small, fresh spill you wiped up may need nothing. One deep moisture reading of the wall behind settles it. A dry reading, and you owe us nothing.

Who closes a house here back up?

One roster, first pump to last coat.

No outside contractor for the second half. IICRC #70194273 handles the drying; CSLB #1131134 handles the rebuild, matched to a 1970 home. Ask the dispatcher what your Pinole block needs.

When is the creek not our problem?

Water still in this ground Creek belongs to the flood control district, not to a drying crew.

That creek has flooded the downtown since the 1860s, so the history is long and the channel is theirs. We work from the door frame inward.

A 1970 house. What comes first?

Testing. Pinole is small, 7,056 homes, and seven in ten predate 1980.

It is the cheapest hour in the job. Opening first and asking later is how a modest loss turns into a regulated one.

Where does Pinole sewage go?

To the plant here shares with Hercules, while EBMUD supplies the water.

Two agencies again. The backup call and the shutoff call are not the same number, and the first hour is where that costs something.

The number is the part that matters. The rest just tells us which crew to send and how far up the road they are going.
